wife and I are both disabled and in our seventies. I am a seventy-six year old 100% disabled marine from injuries incurred in Vietnam. We have been full-time campers for several years and never been treated like this.
When my wife and I found Keystone Heights RV Resort, we were certain that a better life awaited us. Even though the monthly site rental was $282 dollars more than what we were paying at Southern Liesure RV Resort in Chiefland Florida. What a horrible decision that was. We had no idea that Keystone Heights RV is owned byFrontline Insurance, a company with a track record of deceptive practices.
Employee Stealing: We arrived at Keystone Heights RV Park on January 6, 2025. After Checking in, we asked the maintenance supervisor Dale Lavarnway if he could reccomend someone to do some work for us. He referred us to Rob Getz, one of his employees. We paid Getz in advance and promptly started getting the 'run around'. When we pressured Getz to do some work, he sent a man who he claimed was his 'helper'. The 'helper', we later found out had had a stroke and seemed clueless. Getz' helper asked my wife to help him read the instructions which he had been staring at. The page he had been staring at for half an hour was written in the Chinese language. When I confronted Getz about the lack of any progress he became argumentative and I fired him. I asked him for the receipts for the purchases he had done in our name, I went down the list and Getz had spent money on items that were for his own use. Harrasment: Shortly after firing Getz, Lavarnway informed us that the flag we erected on our lot (and which had been located exactly where he stipulated) had to be moved 6 feet. We dug up the cement and moved it 6 feet. Lavarnway stated, Vinnie wants it there. Death Threats: Six months into our sentence, the 'resort' located a couple next door to us who had previously had troubles on a pior stay in the park. Within 1 hour of arriving they made death threats against us. I called security who sent Jim and Mike to investigate. After talking to our neighbors, Mike announced that it would probably be best if we stayed in our camper and not venture out for a few days. He further ominously stated, "These People are Trouble". So my wife and I are now spending several days in a virtual prison. Stephanie, the office manager, asked us to come to the office for a meeting. At this meeting it was suggested that WE move to a different site at this so-called "Resort". Stephanie offered us our choice of any available lot on the property. We drove around for a couple of hours and picked a site. From Death Threats to pure HELL: My wife and I had found our perfect lot and were ecstatic. It soon became obvious that we were not welcome. The woman next door, Paula Fraley turned her radio all the way up, then promptly left. My wife was left stunned, because she was only there to transplant some flowers. Although we had not moved our camper to the new lot, there was a truck parked in our driveway. We had numerous flowers and decorations to unload. The man who owned the truck, John Thomas, was employed by the park as an ambassador. An Ambassador is a position which is charged with helping residents. When asked to move his truck, Thomas replied, 'No'. When we asked Thomas to at least move his truck a few feet, so that we didn't have to carry things around his truck, he turned around and walked away. In the meantime, Paula Fraley, our neighbor who had left her radio blasting and went out all day the previous day returned. Fraley announced that, "We should have never been allowed to move next to her, without first being interviewed and screened by her". About this time I started to wonder if we had somehow been transported to the 'Twilight Zone'. It turns out Paula Fraley was a "Founder". "Founders are people who have stayed at the campground since its inception 5 years ago. They pay half the lot rent and can pretty much do whatever they want. They have management's ear and can quickly reverse any appointed manager at this so-called resort. We soon found out this was only the beginning. Paula insisted that since her son had committed suicide, she had developed PTSD. We were then told that we could not make any noise until Paula woke up every morning. Paula unfortunately stayed up all night and didn't arisee until around noon. Enough is Enough: Desperate to regain even a semblance of RV Resort living, we appealed to Stephenie Johnson for a meeting. At the meeting I implored Johnson to allow us to move to another site. Johnson stated, "I will not approve your moving". Immediately after being rebuffed by Johnson, I stood up and began urging my wife to leave. When we got to the car I sat down with my eyes closed. After a moment of silence, I announced, "I hereby officially approve us moving to a REAL RV Resort". 22 hours later we arrived back at Southern Leisure RV Resort in Chiefland Florida. We quickly signed an Annual Contract. We were finally HOME! Aftermath: Upon returning to Keystone RV Hell, I immediately began preparing for the move. I had told my wife not to tell Stephanie Johnson we were escaping our piece of hell. It was not a question of being sneaky, rather it was having absolutely no respect for Johnson. I have never had respect for her lies and treachery. Surprisingly, Johnson called my wife the very next day. "So how's it going", Johnson inquired. My wife proceeded to tell Johnson we were leaving. "Oh No, Johnson told her, I would have let you move". She told Johnson we had already signed an annual contract. Later that day Johnson sent the head of security to find out if we were really moving. A bit later Johnson sent her husband to do a drive by. The most ignorant thing I've seen Johnson do, was when she told an elderly lady who is just existing on Social Security that she would be forced out of the park if she asked move to a different lot. Stephanie Johnson thought I was bluffing, when I asked to move. I don't bluff. It's been 2 months since leaving Keystone RV hell. Our dog is no longer constantly on edge, and I no longer have high blood pressure. I stopped taking my blood pressure medicines after a recent doctor visit. Since leaving Keystone Hell RV, my blood pressure went from 168/60 to 86/62. It's now 122/74 Perfect. Folks, I know this sounds to crazy to be true. Unfortunately it was our new reality! Now came our Christmas lights. Management told us we had a mandatory lights out at 10 PM. I found that hard to swallow, especially since Paula kept hers on all night. Management would send security around to take pictures at our curfew.
